A new $38 million Bunnings Warehouse has opened in Tarneit.

The 16,000-square metre store, on the corner of Leakes Road and Sunset Views Boulevard, opened last week, creating more than 100 jobs.

With about 60 existing Bunnings team members transferring to Tarneit from surrounding stores, the total number employees stands at about 170.

Bunnings Tarneit features a drive-through trade yard, an outdoor nursery, a café, a tool shop, a trade desk and a hire shop, plus parking for about 400 cars.

The store also has bathroom displays, a kitchen design centre with kitchen displays, an array of artificial flowers, new door selector displays and garage organisation displays.

Bunnings Tarneit complex manager Kristen Burville said staff worked “flat out” to prepare the store for its opening last week.

“I’m really proud of what they have achieved over the past couple of months,” she said.

“We’re really looking forward to being part of the Tarneit community and helping local residents and tradies with all their project needs.”

Ms Burville said the Bunnings team has also been providing hands-on support to community groups in Tarneit.

“Team members have been busy assisting with local community projects such as planting a veggie and herb garden and donating assorted garden tools and a compost bin to David Creek Kindergarten,” she said.

The staff members have also helped to plant fruit trees and decorative plants at Dohertys Creek P-9 College, as well as donating garden tools for students so that they can continue to care for the plants.

“We really enjoy getting out into the community and we look forward to providing more assistance to local community groups in the future,” Ms Burville said.
