A local real estate agent who is selling two Werribee South boatsheds says that interest is soaring in the properties due COVID-19 affecting people’s travel plans.
Reliance Real Estate Point Cook sales professional Donna Carson is selling the licenses to the boatsheds, which are located on Crown land at 405 Cunninghams Road and 158 Campbells Cove Road.
The Cunninghams Road boatshed, which is located on Bailey’s Beach adjoining Campbells Cove, was constructed in the 1940s and has been in the same family for four decades.
Ms Carson said the boatshed has a “relaxed, vintage feel” and is very private, with total waterfront views, while 158 Campbells Cove Road is newly renovated with an expanse of lawn in front before the water.
With a private boat-ramp and decking, the Cunninghams Road boatshed allows the owners to enjoy a meal overlooking the water or indulge in a spot of fishing.
Ms Carson said an auction to sell the boatshed’s license would be held at 11am on Saturday, January 30, unless it is sold prior.
The boatshed’s owners are hoping to achieve a sale price of between $125,000 to $138,000.
During an inspection last weekend, Ms Carson showed eight groups through the boatshed, with many inquiries daily.
She said the boatshed – along with the Campbells Cove Road boatshed, which she is selling off-market – was attracting interest from potential buyers across Melbourne and further afield.
“When I ask people why they are interested in buying, they say it is about current travel restrictions and looking for their own little holiday, their own little escape,” she said.
“I have had so many people inquire in the past couple of weeks due to COVID and the prospect of not travelling for some time.”
Ms Carson said interest in Werribee South has increased ten-fold in her 12 years of working in the area as an agent, as more young families purchase the beachsheds and renovate them for these modern times.
“They are not very well-known, but where else can you own a property on the waterfront for that price, in Melbourne?” she said.
“It’s an untold piece of paradise.”
