This year’s BMX Victorian State Championships will be held in Hoppers Crossing.
The Wyndham Warriors BMX Club’s home track on Derrimut Road will be the venue for the event, which will run from November 16 to 19.
Wyndham Warriors president Gary Morgan said he was looking forward to showing the community the sport of BMX.
“The event is going to be fantastic and we have no doubt that the Wyndham city council, who have always supported us greatly, will help us and BMX Victoria promote and deliver a memorable event,” he said.
The president of BMX Victoria, Cameron Murray, said the organisation was looking forward to bringing its “marquee event” to Wyndham.
Werribee MP Tim Pallas said the state government would provide $5000 in funding towards the event, through the Significant Sporting Events Program.
Mr Pallas said up to 1000 of Australia’s best BMX riders, including 300 from interstate, were expected to attend the competition.
“This is great news for Wyndham – another big event that will attract more visitors from far and wide to our backyard,” he said.
“I encourage all Victorians to come along to what promises to be an action-packed sports spectacle.”
