It’s never too late to become a BMX champion.
That’s the word from the Wyndham Warriors BMX Club, which is hosting a free come-and-try day later this month for both children and adults.
The club’s members range in age from as young as four to more than 50.
Wyndham Warriors BMX Club member Mandie Morgan said three generations of her family – including herself and her brother, her father and her own children – were all keen participants.
“There’s no cap to how far you can go in this sport,” she said.
“It’s good fun, all family members can participate and race on the same day and you can travel all over the world competing.”
Ms Morgan started her BMX career as a kid in the UK and won a couple of British nationals before hanging up her helmet at the tender age of eight.
Then, in 2011, the Point Cook resident asked her brother to build her a bike and she “got hooked” again.
The Wyndham Warriors host club races every fortnight and in October will be home to the junior state series final.
The come-and-try day will be on Saturday, March 25, from 10.30am-noon at the Heathdale Glen Orden Wetlands, 115 Derrimut Road, Hoppers Crossing.
