The staff at Manor Lakes News & Lotto are celebrating after one of their regular customers won the top prize from an Instant Scratch-Its ticket last month.

The customer, a Werribee man, won $1000 a week for 10 years after purchasing a $10 Live the Life ticket from the Manor Lakes Central business.

The man, who asked to remain anonymous, said he and his partner “just started screaming and jumping up and down” after the August 31 prize draw.

“It’s funny because I told Raj, the owner of Manor Lakes News & Lotto, that he was going to sell us a top prize winner and he did,” the man said.

Manor Lakes News & Lotto owner and manager, Raj Sharma, said that he celebrated three years of running the business on August 28, a few days before his customer’s big win.

“To sell the winning entry to a regular customer was just lovely,” Mr Sharma said.

“It was just unbelievable, we were so excited and so happy for them.”

Mr Sharma said the Werribee man’s windfall has become first major win for a Manor Lakes News & Lotto customer.

However, the store has also sold 12 division two winning tickets.

“We’ve actually sold 9722 winning entries in the first seven months of this year, which is great for a small business,” Mr Sharma said.

Mr Sharma also said that around three months ago, after a long campaign to Australia Post, Manor Lakes News & Lotto became a community postal agency, where people can send and collect parcels.
