A giant giraffe and elephant sculpture, arts and entertainment will feature at Wyndham council’s annual Children’s Week Picnic.

The free event, which is now in its 18th year, will be held on Sunday, October 28.

Polyglot Theatre’s ‘Tangle’, a giant weaving play space event which allows children to create a public artwork using coloured elastic and two-metre high poles, will transform an empty space on the great lawn at Werribee Mansion into a colourful installation.

There will also be food trucks, roving entertainers, the Mexican Music Man, a toy swap, a silent disco hosted by Wyndham’s Youth Services Team and a child and parent mobile photo studio.

Tawanda and friends will run a drumming session and play African grooves, while young people who love sport can head to the Try Sports Zone to give AFL, cricket, tennis, lacrosse, soccer, softball or drill dancing a go.

The main stage will also feature the Scott Hone BMX Show, Fizzics Big Science Big Fun Show, Teeny Tiny Stevies, Shiamak Davar – Bollywood Performance and Trash Test Dummies.

The Healthy and Active Stage will include performances from dance schools and fitness centres including Namaste Yogis, Danchelle School of Dance, Unite Dance Studio, DanceMax Studios, Millennium Dance Concepts and Gracie Barra Hoppers Crossing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

The Children’s Week Picnic is on Sunday, October 28 from 10am to 4pm, at the Werribee Mansion, K Road, Werribee South. The event will be a sugary-drink and alcohol-free event.
