Famous writer Heather Morris will give an author talk through Wyndham libraries’ online program next month.

Morris is the author of The Tattooist of Auschwitz and its follow-up Cilka’s Journey, which have sold eight million copies worldwide.

The Tattooist of Auschwitz, which was released in 2018, is based on the true story of Slovakian Jew Lale Sokolov and his wife Gita.

Lale was imprisoned at Auschwitz in 1942 and he fell in love with a girl he was tattooing at the concentration camp.

Morris spent three years interviewing Lale, up to his death in 2006, before writing the novel which went on to become a New York Times bestseller.

During her Wyndham libraries talk, Morris will speak about her new novel, Three Sisters, which is also based on a true story about three teenage siblings, two of whom were sent to Auschwitz during World War II.

The Wyndham libraries event will feature Morris in conversation with writer Claire Halliday.

Halliday, who has had more than 1000 feature articles published in a range of publications including Australian Women’s Weekly, GQ, Marie Claire, Australian Men’s Style and Rolling Stone, has also written five books.

Her fifth non-fiction work, Things My Father Taught Me, features interviews with George Calombaris, Reverend Tim Costello, Anthony Callea, Matthew Reilly, David Koch, Em Rusciano, Catriona Rowntree, Ann Peacock and other well-known figures talking about the impact their fathers had on their lives.

The Heather Morris author talk will be held online on Wednesday, December 1 between 7.30pm – 8.30pm. Bookings required.
