As dawn seeped through the sky in Wyndham, hundreds of residents both young and old, gathered solemnly on Anzac day to commemorate the lives that were lost in war.

The service was hosted by Werribee RSL branch president Daryl Ryan who thanked community members for attending the first ceremony to be held since delays caused by COVID-19 suspended public commemorations.

Speeches were presented by Mayor Peter Maynard, and two students from MacKillop College who spoke of the importance of mateship, and the sacrifices made by the Anzacs.

Local politicians attended the service and joined community groups in placing wreaths at the Werribee Cenotaph.
