Art exhibition in Hoppers

An art exhibition which is raising funds for a good cause is being held in Hoppers Crossing.

The Dreambuilders Centre4Change is hosting the exhibition, which features about 80 paintings and artworks, including many by local artists.

The artists have donated their works to raise money for the programs offered at the Dreambuilders Centre4Change in Hoppers Crossing.

The centre, run by the Dreambuilders Church Melbourne (formerly Destiny Centre Church) is a registered charity which began last year. It offers a residential rehabilitation program for men, among its other initiatives.

During the past 12 months, the rehab program has supported 40 individuals and their families who have experienced issues such as homelessness, destitution, family violence, addiction and other life-controlling behaviours.

Volunteer Monica O’Reilly, an art teacher, came up with the idea for the fundraising exhibition. She has been supported by Maddy Chelini of Wyndham Arts Therapy, who has also contributed to the exhibition.

Volunteer Surya Ravindran, who also helped to organise the exhibition, said several members of the RedWest Creatives Co-op Ltd, which is a group for creatives and artists in Melbourne’s west, donated pieces.

Ms Ravinden also helped to find sponsors for the exhibition, who donated prizes and provided other support.

She thanked Hoppers Crossing photographer Imran Abul Kashem for gifting three of his images to the exhibition.

The exhibition’s sponsors include Bunnings Hoppers Crossing, Kmart and Woolworths at Pacific Werribee, Foodbiz, Wyndham Cache, The South Corner Cafe, Sprinkles Ice Creamery Tarneit, Cheeky Chewies Cafe Laverton and Petar Krnjeta from Ray White Werribee.

The art exhibition is on show at 37-43 Graham Court, Hoppers Crossing, until Sunday, February 7, from 10am-3pm daily. Details: https://www.centre4change.org/
