Armed Crime Squad detectives have charged a man following a non-fatal shooting in Werribee last month.

Detectives executed a warrant at a Werribee North Road, Werribee address around 3.15pm on Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation.

Police arrested two men, both aged 23, and seized a loaded homemade pistol, swords, knives and a stolen motorcycle.

A 23-year-old Werribee man was interviewed and charged with prohibited person possess firearm, intentionally cause injury, recklessly cause injury, reckless conduct endanger life, weapons offences and theft.

A second 23-year-old Werribee man was interviewed and released pending further inquiries.

The charges follow an incident on August 24, when a 27-year-old Werribee man sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and presented to a nearby hospital shortly afterwards.
