Wyndham Vale’s Kittianant Chaipanukiat joined thousands of other Victoria University students for a virtual graduation last month.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, 2971 students participated in an online graduation ceremony on August 20.

Mr Chaipanukiat, who is also known as Kit, moved from Bangkok to Melbourne to complete a master of digital media, digital communication and multimedia/media at VU.

He previously completed a bachelor of arts, studying public relations, advertising, and applied communications at a university in Thailand.

Mr Chaipanukiat said that before the global pandemic struck, his mother had planned to fly to Australia for his Victoria University graduation ceremony.

Instead, his family – including his mother and grandmother – watched his virtual graduation ceremony.

Mr Chaipanukiat said his sister was able to help organise this, with the assistance of a laptop and mobile phone.

Although he took part in the ceremony from his Wyndham Vale residence, Mr Chaipanukiat purchased his graduation robes online and wore them for the ceremony.

“It was a totally different experience, but fun,” he said.

“It was once-in-a-lifetime, I expect.”

Mr Chaipanukiat said he was now looking for a full-time job, while also working part-time in digital media and online marketing for a migration service.

Het said his dream career was to be employed as a content creator, and in online marketing, for a video games company.

He has formerly worked as a social media content creator for a game publishing company and in public relations at the National Housing Authority of Thailand.
