Wyndham Central College students have had their first taste of university life through a unique arts program that has involved creating animation at the National Gallery of Victoria.
Year 9 and 10 students have spent the past two weeks creating props for a stop-motion animation video as part of the SmArts program run by the Smith Family in partnership with RMIT University.
The students also got to chat to RMIT students about what it’s like to study arts and design at tertiary level.
Anton Leschen from the Smith Family said the hands-on program encouraged students to recognise their potential to study arts and design at university.
“Giving students the opportunity to develop their skills in arts and design with university teaching staff, on a university campus and at the NGV, is a powerful way to help them feel more connected to school, increase their confidence and lift their aspirations,” Mr Leschen said.
