A 20-year-old Hoppers Crossing man has been charged following the alleged assault of a policeman on Friday morning.
An officer was allegedly struck with a rock during the incident. He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Police said they attempted to intercept a vehicle which was being driven erratically on Marquands Road, Truganina, about 2.15am on Friday.
When the vehicle stopped, five people got out, one man was arrested at the scene while four others ran.
A short time later, two men returned to the scene, where one allegedly assaulted an officer with a rock.
Both men were arrested.
Another man presented himself to a police station a short time later.
A Hoppers Crossing man was charged with assaulting an emergency services worker, intentionally causing injury, hindering police and assault with weapon.
He appeared at Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on Friday and has been remanded to appear in court again at a later date.
Three other men have been released pending further inquiries.
Police are still looking for one man in relation to the incident.
He is perceived to be of African appearance and was wearing dark clothing at the time.
