Commuters along the Werribee line will soon have an extra morning and afternoon peak service to choose from.
The state government last week announced that it would add 30 new metropolitan train services across the network during peak times, including 10 new Werribee train line services.
From August 27, a new morning peak service will run from Werribee to the city each week day, and a new evening peak service will run from the city back to Werribee.
Werribee MP Tim Pallas said the timetabling changes would help “get people in Wyndham and across Victoria home safer and sooner”.
“This is a big win for Werribee – with more trains, more often in the peak, when they are needed most,” Mr Pallas said.
The new services were announced only a week after Star Weekly reported the Wyndham Vale and Tarneit train stations would get 44 extra services along the Regional Rail Link, also starting from August 27.
Thirty of the new Wyndham services will run on the weekend – 14 on Saturdays and 16 on Sundays – meaning commuters will only have to wait 40 minutes between trains.
The new train timetables will be available in July from ptv.vic.gov.au
