Werribee Open Range Zoo will be alive with summer drumming when the annual Rhythm of Africa nights return.

Running every Saturday night from January 7 until February 25, the program will offer Ethiopian coffee ceremonies, drumming workshops, hair braiding and face-painting.

African-inspired dishes will be served, though families are welcome to enjoy their own picnics as they listen to contemporary and traditional African music.

Children under 16 will be admitted for free. Proceeds from the concert series help Zoos Victoria fight wildlife extinction. Details: zoo.org.au/rhythm
