Wyndham residents looking for a new job or a career change can access free advice and support from an expert team of Jobs Victoria advocates.
Wyndham council has partnered with Jobs Victoria and The Huddle to run the Jobs Victoria Advocates program, funded by the state government, until June 2023.
The Huddle is the community arm of the North Melbourne Football Club, and operates in partnership with the Scanlon Foundation and the Australian Multicultural Foundation.
Jobs Victoria advocates work with people who are preparing or looking for work, to help them gain ongoing employment, including connecting individuals to resume writing services and job agencies.
Wyndham’s future focused portfolio holder, councillor Mia Shaw, said the program supported people who are looking for work by connecting them to information, advice and services.
“Council works with a range of organisations to link our residents with the services they need,” Cr Shaw said.
“Whether that be resume writing help, job interview skills, identifying transferrable skills or linking job seekers with industry.
“We endeavour to bridge the gap between those seeking work and those needing workers.”
Wyndham’s Jobs Victoria Advocates are available to meet with residents who are looking for work on Mondays from 10.30am-6pm at the Point Cook Community Learning Centre and Tuesdays from 10.30am-6pm at Tarneit Library. No appointment is necessary.
