The Nature in Wyndham Photo Competition is still open for submissions.

The competition, which is being run by the Werribee River Association (WRA), is asking entrants to submit images of Wyndham waterways, local native flora and fauna and people spending time in nature.

The competition, which includes $1000 in prizes, is open for submissions until October 1.

Competition organiser Lisa Field said: “Wyndham has some very special natural places, like Werribee South, Point Cook Coastal Park and the Werribee River.

“It is difficult being in lockdown, but thankfully we do have some great trails and waterways where we can recharge and find sanctuary in nature.”

The competition, which is free to enter, is open to anyone who lives, works or studies in Wyndham.

Ms Field, who has been volunteering with the WRA for two years, said the association was always looking for ways to grow its membership and community engagement.

“With coronavirus it was obvious that now was the time to do some virtual engagement, such as a photo competition,” she said.

“It is really pleasing to have received a good number and variety of photos in the competition, that are coming from all corners of the municipality and from different ages.”

The competition’s categories include: best photo of a waterway in Wyndham; best photo of native fauna and or flora in Wyndham; and best image of people finding sanctuary in nature or practising good social distancing in the city of Wyndham.

All photos taken during the pandemic must comply with COVID-19 regulations.
