A labour of love

Three brave young boys have visited a home that will be auctioned to help other brave children receive vital medical treatment.

Eight-year-old Archie, seven-year-old Keni and two-year-old Jack have each been helped by the Royal Children’s Hospital.

The trio and their families visited Alamora estate in Tarneit on Wednesday 3 December to visit the five-bedroom family home that will go under the hammer next year for the Good Friday Appeal.

Built by Henley on land donated by Villawood Properties, volunteer tradies and suppliers have continued to drive the project at pace, ensuring the home is tracking strongly toward completion ahead of the Good Friday auction.

Keni underwent a craniotomy in 2023 to remove a rare brain tumour and now receives ongoing treatment to prevent further growth.

Another warrior and fellow big kid, Archie, frequently visits the Royal Children’s Hospital respiratory clinics for treatment and consultations.

Last but not least, the youngest of the crew Jack has been helped by the hospital since before he was born.

What began as a routine ultrasound at 29 weeks led to the discovery of a large tumour on Jack’s arm.

Within days of his early arrival, he was also diagnosed with craniosynostosis, beginning a long journey of surgery, helmet therapy and close monitoring.

Jack’s mother Kay Lovus thanked Henley and Villawood for their donations.

“The Royal Children’s Hospital is such a special place for so many children and their families, including ours,” she said.

The lads enjoyed a morning of fun and met a couple of the tradies that donated their time working on the house.
