A high tea time crusade

Fresh baking, a lovely cup of tea and fine company are the enjoyable prospects that will be on offer at a Wyndham fundraiser.

The Cancer Crusaders’ annual high tea will return next month to help raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Crusaders secretary Ruth Murray said the group, comprising 12 Wyndham women, had a goal of raising $90,000 a year.

The funds raised will help pay for a brain tumor clinical trial program at the hospital.

“Since we formed in 2013, we’ve hosted two high teas a year,” Ms Murray said.

“This will be our seventh.

“Everything is homemade. We’ll have cucumber sandwiches, chicken royale sandwiches, chocolate mousse cake and more on offer, along with a selection of teas and coffee.”

In the nine months to Christmas last year, the Crusaders raised a whopping $79,000 for the hospital and they hope to keep adding to that tally.
