Lotto winner found

After nine days, an unregistered entry purchased in Hoppers Crossing that scored a $2 million prize in TattsLotto’s $30 million Megadraw on Saturday 2 January has been claimed.

Today the happy winner, a man from south-west Melbourne, claimed the prize and admitted that the multi-million dollar ticket had just been sitting on his kitchen bench.

“I’m ecstatic! I had a couple tickets in the draw and they were just sitting on my kitchen bench,” he laughed.

“When I checked my tickets, I didn’t have my glasses on so I thought I’d won $200,000! So when I realised it was actually $2 MILLION, I nearly fell on my bum!

“I phoned my wife straight away with the news and she didn’t believe I was serious!”

The man said he wanted to ensure the money went a long way and would last long into the future.

“We’ll get the mortgage out of the way first,” he said.

“We can also get his and her cars to get around, but we don’t need anything flash.

“Then we plan to invest the rest as a nest egg for our future!

“We’re both still working so now we won’t have to work the long hours that we do, which is the real bonus – being able to change our lifestyle.”

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his 12-game QuickPick entry from Hoppers Crossing from Target Lotto, Shop 7, 24-48 Old Geelong Road in Hoppers Crossing.
