Driver double the speed limit

Police caught a driver travelling at double the speed limit along Saltwater Promenade in Point Cook on Saturday night.

Highway Patrol officers stopped a vehicle about 10.40pm, after it was detected travelling at 120 kilmetres per hour in a 60 kilometre zone.

The driver, from Point Cook, tested positive to drug driving and his car was impounded for 30 days. The driver will have to $1006 to get his car out of the impound lot.

Police said Saturday was the second time they had impounded the man’s car, in recent times. When he was caught speeding on the weekend, the driver had only just gotten the vehicle back from being impounded around three weeks earlier.
