Police believe a woman pushing a pram may have witnessed last week’s lake tragedy in Wyndham Vale and have pleaded with her to come forward.
Homicide Squad detectives say they have been told the Caucasian woman, aged in her 30s, knocked on the door of a nearby house to alert the resident a car had gone into Lake Gladman.
Three children, four-year-old twins Madit and Anger and one-year old Bol died as a result of the crash.
The Toyota Kluger was being driven by the children’s mother, Akon Goude.
Ms Goude has been interviewed by police but was released without charge.
Police have also made a renewed appeal for anybody with information about the crash to contact them.
Detectives are also appealing for further assistance from the South Sudanese community,” Sergeant Sharon Darcy said.
“Investigators would like to speak to anyone who knows the family, their movements on the day of the tragedy or who has any other information they believe could be of assistance.”
“A number of calls have been received and investigators are urging those callers to contact police again either through Crime Stoppers or directly to their local police.”
The funeral for the three young children is due to be held tomorrow at St Andrew’s Catholic Church in Werribee, with a community fundraiser to be held this Sunday afternoon at Manor Lakes Football Club.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at www.crimestoppers.com.au
