Werribee: Car carrying young girl crashes into house

A car carrying a young girl has careered into a house in Werribee, smashing through two rooms.

It is understood the SUV ploughed through the lounge room and into a bedroom of the home on Latham Street just before 8pm on Thursday.

No one was home at the time of the crash. But driver of the car, a man in his late 30s, and a nine-year-old girl who was a passenger were taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Royal Children’s Hospital.

They are both in a stable condition.

A police spokesman said the car had inflicted “a fair bit of damage” on the Latham-Street home, with local council officers and the State Emergency Service called in to survey the scene.

Investigators are yet to speak to the driver of the car.
