Real estate agent tip-off leads to Point Cook pot crop

Police seized about 150 cannabis plants in a raid on a house in Point Cook on Saturday.

The haul was discovered by a real estate agent who was carrying out a routine inspection on the Boardwalk Boulevard property.

The agent contacted police to report that a sizeable cannabis crop was being grown inside the house.

Police visited the property, and after obtaining a search warrant, spent several hours dismantling the cannabis set-up.

Sergeant Graeme Crouch, of Wyndham North Police, said it took police five hours to seize the plants and dismantle the grow house.

“The lights inside the house that are used in the set-up generate quite a severe heat, so along with [Saturday’s] humid weather, it was a good effort by the constables [to dismantle everything],” he said.

Police investigations are continuing.

Sergeant Crouch said the offenders were likely to face charges including cultivating a drug of dependence, theft of power and criminal damage.

He said the grow house was one of a number in Wyndham that had been uncovered in recent weeks.
