Werribee River search to find guns used in Sunbury armed hold-up

Police divers will search the Werribee River on Thursday in an attempt to recover guns used in an armed robbery at Sunbury in December.

Armed Crime Squad detectives believe that three offenders, two of whom were armed with firearms, held up a cash delivery car which was parked outside a fast food restaurant on Hornee Street, Subury, about 6am on Monday, December 1.

A quantity of cash was taken but no one was injured during the incident.

Two of the alleged offenders fled the scene on a dark-coloured motorcycle.

The other alleged offender left in a late-model sports Holden Commodore sedan which was later found dumped and burnt out at Little River.

Detectives have received information that the firearms used in the robbery were thrown into the Werribee River near Riverbend Historical Park in Wyndham Vale.

Anyone with information about the armed robbery is being urged to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
