Tarneit: Runaway car lands in empty bedroom

A Tarneit woman is thanking her lucky stars she was not in bed early last Sunday morning after a car smashed into the bedroom of her house.

Wyndham North police sergeant Steve Taylor said a 25-year-old Tarneit woman lost control of her car in Wilandra Drive and ploughed through the front of the brick house soon after 6.45am.

Sergeant Taylor said it was fortunate nobody was in the house at the time.

“The occupant of the house was at work when it happened,” he said.

“It’s extremely lucky she wasn’t inside at the time because the car landed inside her bedroom on top of the bed.

“Had she been inside the bedroom, we would have been talking about either a miracle survival or she would be dead.”

The driver was trapped in her car, with CFA and SES crews called to the scene to assist with the rescue.

She was eventually taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is assisting police with their inquiries.
