Wyndham employers are being encouraged to give the careers of people with a disability a jump start as part of a new campaign.
Launched in Werribee last week by disability employment services provider Advanced Personnel Management, the campaign will secure 40 jobs for people with disabilities across the western suburbs over the next four weeks.
APM chief executive Michael Hobday said organisations including Wyndham council and the Western Bulldogs had thrown their support behind
the initiative.
“Once local employers are engaged, our team will provide free and comprehensive support at all stages of the employment process, from assessment of jobseekers to job matching, transition to work and in-work support,” Mr Hobday said.
“What we’re trying to do is match a large number of jobseekers with employment in a short period of time.
“We want to get people started in the workforce, whether it’s 10 hours a week or full-time and to shine a light on people with disabilities and the benefits they can offer employers.
“We’re hoping employers will look for the gold in each person and take an inclusive approach to searching for potential employees.”
