Construction of part of Armstrong and Ison roads will be brought forward, following the announcement of a $533 million infrastructure contributions package for Wyndham’s west.
Planning Minister Matthew Guy announced the Wyndham West Development Contributions Plan on Thursday, providing funding for community facilities and infrastructure over the next 30 years.
The plan will help fund the delivery of 15.6 kilometres of roads, 33 intersections, 27 bridges, 18 sports fields and 6.3 hectares of community facilities across seven new precincts.
It features a “landmark” agreement between the state government, council and developer Lend Lease that will allow Ison and Armstrong roads to be built between the Werribee River and the Princes Freeway.
“Construction of Armstrong Road and Ison Road is required early in the development of the Wyndham West sub-corridor,” Mr Guy said.
“This approach provides a practical solution to deliver much needed infrastructure to one of Australia’s fastest growing areas.”

A proposal has also been put forward to build a bridge over the Geelong railway line as part of the construction of Ison Road.
Western Metropolitan Liberal MP Andrew Elsbury said the bridge would “significantly” improve traffic flow in Werribee.
“Both Armstrong Road and the proposed bridge over the Geelong railway line will overcome traffic congestion in Cottrell Street, Werribee and provide an important transport link from Wyndham west to the Princes Freeway,” he said.
The DCP has also paved the way for the first stage of a $1 billion development at Black Forest Road South, with construction to start in August.
