Wyndham residents are being reminded to register their cats and dogs to avoid being fined $289.
All dogs and cats older than three months must be registered with the council.
Owners have until April 10 to renew their registration. The city is home to more than 6000 cats and 20,000 dogs.
Cr Peter Maynard says registrations help the council reunite lost pets with their owners and allow it to plan better pet services.
