Hoppers Crossing triplets give three little reasons to be jolly

Christmas will bring multiple joy for first-time Hoppers Crossing mother Pahan Nanayakkara and her triplets.

Mrs Nanayakkara gave birth to Dylan and his sisters Osara and Minara within three minutes of each other on June 30 and is planning a special Christmas celebration.

“Everything has to be done for three babies, not just one, so it’s a hectic time,” she said.

Mrs Nanayakkara and husband Dinesh were dumbfounded when they discovered she was expecting twins.

“At the first [ultrasound] we were told we had twins and we were so happy because both of us have twins in the family,” she said.

“At the 12-week scan we found out we were having triplets and it was a huge surprise.”

Mrs Nanayakkara joined the Wyndham Twins Plus group, which supports parents with multiple babies, so she could learn what to expect.

“I’m a first-time mum and very nervous. Having three babies is a big challenge.”

Twins Plus has monthly meetings, a library, pre-loved baby clothes and family support packs. It also offers emotional support.
