Julius, Josh and Jonathon are among Wyndham Central College year 9 students who have been commended for their knowledge of Italian.
The students recently competed in the statewide Dante Alighieri poem competition at Melbourne University.
Teacher Angela Villella said the students, many of whom come from non-English speaking backgrounds, were required to recite a poem in Italian.
“This is the first time the school has entered and they all got honourable mentions,” she said. “They did exceptionally well.”
