In years to come, Olympian Mat Belcher will be able to sail past the marina at Wyndham Harbour knowing he played a hand in its design.
The gold medal-winning sailor has signed on as an ambassador for the Werribee South development, providing advice on what boat enthusiasts expect from a marina.
“I’ve been in countless marinas and boat clubs around the world so I can provide practical advice and have a say in making sure the marina covers the needs of the boating community,” Queensland-based Belcher said.
Developer Lyons Capital hopes the marina will attract boating enthusiasts from far afield.
Chief executive John Roysmith said his dream was to make the development a working marina, but he needed Belcher’s advice on the boat services, berths, fuel
lines, club facilities and retail shops that would attract a mix of boat owners to make it a success in the boating community.
