Two weeks ago, these stray pups didn’t have a place to call home.
Now, the nine-week-old Staffy-cross puppies have been given a new lease on life after finding their ‘forever homes’, thanks to a Star Weekly appeal.
A local resident surrendered the seven pups to Wyndham council’s pound a fortnight ago.
The resident was not aware that the pups’ mother hadn’t been desexed, and she was not able to re-home the pups herself.
One of the puppies was snapped up straight away, and Wyndham council and the Western Suburbs Cat and Kitten Rescue joined forces to find homes for the remaining six.
Following a Star Weekly article online last week, the puppies – which have all been fully vaccinated, desexed, microchipped, vet checked and had worming and flea treatments – have all gone to new homes.
Nathan Miles from Western Suburbs Cat and Kitten Rescue said he had received more than 100 inquiries for the pups.
The new owners committed to obedience training and puppy school before their adoptions.
“It was a case of finding the best homes for them,” Mr Miles said, adding that some seven families are now on a waiting list for any more puppies that may come in.
He said this case highlights why desexing pets is so important.
