There’s no business like monkey business, especially on school holidays. Werribee’s Open Range Zoo is giving children the chance to get up close and personal with its troop of vervet monkeys. They can also test their skills on the rope course and get up to all kinds of mischief in the monkey play tent – a hub for monkey-themed games and activities that will be open until August 31. Seven-year-old Rhys and his 10-year-old brother, Braydon (pictured), monkeyed around last week.
Meanwhile, those keen to get in touch with their wild side after dark can enjoy fire shows, marshmallow toasting, glow-in-the-dark hula-hooping and a mysterious secret garden to explore from June 27 until July 11. Wild Nights includes challenges such as spotting hippos on the beach, wild dogs, cheetahs and lions on the prowl, along with nocturnal natives, including squirrel gliders, fat-tailed dunnarts and eastern barred bandicoots.
