Would you cut off all your hair for charity?
That’s just what Tarneit’s Steph Borg will be doing next week when she braves the big chop to celebrate National Bandanna Day, which raises money for youth cancer charity CanTeen.
Ms Borg, 25, will be cutting all her hair off next Friday at Tarneit Early Learning Centre, where she works as an educator in the junior nursery room.
“We were talking about it and I thought, why not?
“I’m a bit nervous about how I’ll look with no hair, but excited, too.”
The centre originally set a fundraising target of $500 but took it up to $1500 after raising $460 in the first two days.
So far, more than $1000 has been raised.
Tarneit Early Learning Centre director Annmarie Wain said she was pleasantly surprised by the community’s support.
“I didn’t expect to reach the [fundraising] goal in the first two days,” Ms Wain said.
The centre is also selling bandannas and will be hosting an afternoon tea when Ms Borg cuts off her hair.
