Orchid blooms will be displayed in all their colourful profusion when the Werribee Orchid Club hosts its annual winter show this weekend.
Club vice-president Philip Richards says Australian Orchid Society judges will award the ‘best home-grown orchids on show’.
The event will include potting demonstrations, floral art and orchid sales.
Mr Richards says the club has winter and spring shows each year, and he reveals the secret to growing award-winning orchids is love, attention and using the right mix. “It’s not that hard to do, actually.”
Bill Botheras (pictured), a member of the Werribee Orchid Club since it started 22 years ago, will be exhibiting some of his blooms during the weekend.
The orchid show will be held at the Italian Sports Club of Werribee, 601 Heaths Road, Werribee, this Saturday, 9am-4pm, and Sunday from 9am-3pm.
Entry costs $4.
