More than 30,000 people are expected to descend on Presidents Park this Saturday for a full day of food, fun and culture in celebration of the third Wyndham Diwali Festival.

Organiser Raghu Koorthy says the event will feature more than 300 performers, international cuisine, children’s rides, henna art, a variety of stalls and a DJ.

The festival will close with a fireworks display.

THIS DIWALI SAY NO TO FAMILY VIOLENCE

“The theme is Diwali – the triumph of good over evil – but it’s actually a multicultural festival that is open to everyone,” Mr Koorthy said.

Diwali is an ancient Hindu festival also known as the festival of lights. It is traditionally celebrated by fireworks displays, bonfires and people carrying lamps in street processions.

The free event starts at 11.30am and continues to 11pm.
