Dance the chills away at the winter ball

Brace yourselves, winter is here. But it isn’t all gloom and doom, not for the youth of Wyndham anyway.

The winter ball at the Youth Resource Centre is back for its second year, and organising committee head Mackenzie Lockwood-Rourke hopes this year’s event will be even bigger than the last.

“We had about 150 people turning up last year,” she said.

“This year we’re hoping for similar numbers, or more.

“It gives us a chance to see everyone dressed up and having a good night with music, dancing and prom-style photos.”

Mackenzie says the alcohol and drug-free event will feature a DJ spinning tracks from the charts, remixes, and a few traditional ballroom dancing melodies.

The winter ball is open to people aged 12 to 17 years, and is on June 17 from 6pm until 9pm.

Tickets are $2; pay at the door.
