Ever wondered how you’d have lived in the mud and dust of the battlefields of World War II?
Heading to the hangar at the old Werribee airfield next month may provide some answers.
The Geelong Military Re-enactment Group will be setting up a bivouac, complete with tents and kitchen, while authentic military vehicles will be on display.
The group will also be firing a cannon in a paddock beside the hangar.
The Liberator Group, whose members are restoring a B24 Liberator bomber at the hangar, will be on hand to explain their work.
The August 14 open day, at the corner of Princes Highway and Farm Road, is a fundraiser for the Liberator Group, which will use money raised to help find a new home for the bomber.
Gates are open from 9.30am-3.30pm.
