Keeping little learners happy

Little Learners Day Care Centre in Truganina and Tarneit has continued to operate throughout the pandemic, helping families through the unsettling time.

Centre Director Vicky says this year has been a unique one and difficult for everyone, but allowing children to maintain normal routines created some much-needed stability for families.

“We were very fortunate we were able to continue to support our families and community through a very unsettling time,” Vicky says.

“I’m very proud of our passionate team at Little Learners Day Care Centre who continued to remain committed and dedicated to providing a nurturing and enriching environment for our children and families this year.”

With a focus on providing clear communication to families during the uncertain time, the Little Learners team pulled the community close and followed all advice to keep its big and little people safe, and most importantly, keeping children heading home happy each day.

It is this emphasis on creating a nurturing and enriching learning environment that allowed Little Learners Day Care Centre to grow and open its second Childcare and Kindergarten centre in Tarneit earlier this year, and Vicky says being a family-run business has a lot to do with it.

“We get so many word-of-mouth enrolments,” she says. “Families say that it’s a really engaging, happy and friendly environment and you can feel the joy in our centres.

“The reviews on social media are so encouraging. It’s fantastic that families are so happy and that we are exceeding their expectations.”

The design of the buildings at both centres lets loads of natural light in, scientifically proven to aid learning. “We offer ultra-modern and light-filled rooms which are specially designed for children’s daily learning activities – and we incorporate both indoor and outdoor educational programs.

“We have beautifully landscaped play areas and there’s more than 1000 square metres of outdoor space, which the children absolutely love.

“Children also have access to sandpits, a bike track, cubby houses, theatre stage, slides, scooters and many more stimulating and interactive learning aids.”

Little Learners Day Care Centre offers care from six weeks to five years and has a government-approved Kindergarten program, with an extensive focus on preparing children for school.

Dedicated cooks are on hand to prepare healthy, multicultural meals, sourcing products from the local community where possible.

“We cater for all food allergies and cultural preferences and comply with the latest nutritional guidelines for children,” Vicky says. “Families love our wholesome and varied menu. We provide five meals daily, which takes the pressure off working families.”

The centre has its own vegie and herb gardens and children join in to sow seeds, water and harvest the fruit and vegetables, with families getting to take home the centre-grown vegies. There’s also an extensive events program which includes music and movement, sports, cooking experiences, a dog safety program and an excursion to a local broccoli farm.

“We have an amazing team of qualified educators who are dedicated to building strong relationships with all our children and families.

“Families are always welcome to be involved in the everyday life of the centre to ensure the best outcome for children’s development and learning experiences.”
