Circumcision a new procedure on offer at Westgate Medical Centre

Westgate Medical Centre on Sayers Road, one of the few established local health providers in the Wyndham community located in Hoppers Crossing with neighbouring growing suburbs such as Tarneit and Truganina, can be trusted to service your healthcare needs.

The clinic recently introduced male circumcision to its services, in addition to the current medical services such as vaccinations, chronic disease management, wound management, skin procedures, children’s health, men’s health, women’s health, and procedures such as Implanon and IUD. Male circumcisions are performed by Dr Sawe Zin who is well-experienced in this field.

After identifying a gap in the local community for circumcision, Dr Sawe Zin decided to onboard male circumcisions to the clinic as there are a limited number of local health providers who perform this procedure and, in some cases, patients may need to travel far to have this performed.

Male circumcisions can be a confronting issue for some; however, some families choose circumcision for cultural and religious reasons while others choose to do it for hygiene, medical and appearance reasons.

The procedure is performed in the clinic with the highest care and consideration even though this can be a daunting experience for some patients, especially young male children. Staff are trained to facilitate a positive and streamlined experience for patients. Since advertising that male circumcisions are now being performed at Westgate Medical Centre in March 2024, the reception from patients has been positive. Mothers have expressed their gratitude that they are glad their local GP offers this service.

Dr Sawe Zin uses quality equipment for this procedure and explains in depth what the procedure will entail, what the possible side effects are and cost. Patient education is important in general, as this gives patients a better insight into their health, provides confidence and allows the patient to participate in the shared decision-making process of their treatment.

In addition to male circumcisions, Dr Sawe Zin also has a keen interest in general practice, women’s health and procedures including Implanon and Mirena/IUD, minor cosmetic procedures such as anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers and joint injections.

The clinic’s operating hours are from 8am –11pm on Monday – Friday, 9am -8pm Saturday and Sunday including public holidays.
