’Big and beautiful’ Greencross Vet Hospital now open

Wyndham’s state-of-the-art Greencross Vet Hospital is officially open and awaiting a visit from your furry and feathery friends.

Located at the University of Melbourne, the team of highly dedicated, animal loving staff specialise in cats and dogs, plus exotic pets like rabbits, guinea pigs, snakes, birds, and ferrets.

Open from 8am to 6pm every day, Greencross Vet Hospital’s clinical director Dr Liam Donaldson is excited to be working back where he completed part of his training almost a decade ago.

“The clinic itself is so big and beautiful and being able to provide high quality care alongside a team that is so focused on the pet and client is really great,” he said.

With modern equipment and knowledgeable staff, they provide expert dental advice, can treat broken bones, conduct surgical procedures, general health checks and so much more.

The facility covers 3000 square metres, has 14 consultation rooms, four modern surgical theatres, an intensive care unit and advanced diagnostic equipment, making it well equipped to treat almost any animal ailment.

Specialising in emergency and critical care, Dr Donaldson has plans to double the staff to ensure around the clock emergency operating hours for when you need a vet when you least expect it.

Anyone interested in working with Greencross is encouraged to apply online.

“We’ve maintained a lot of the university academic staff, a lot of the veterinarians and previous staff locals know,” Dr Donaldson said.

“There is such a demand for high quality veterinary care here … The community has always been a very strong supporter of the clinic, so it made great sense for us to set up the hospital.”

With a reach down to Geelong and up to Ballarat, Dr Donaldson said Greencross is an important facility for the surrounding area.

Greencross is also a strong advocate for preventative care, proving so with its Healthy Pets Plus program.

“Rather than treating disease we also want to prevent it,” Dr Donaldson said.

“We can give discounted vaccinations, dentals and blood tests to maintain the general health of pets at our clinic.”
