Auslan community classes

Learn how to speak Australia’s own visual language. Classes run for two hours each week until August 31. The practical classes teach students how to finger spell, develop a vocabulary of basic conversational signs, and to structure a sentence. Ferry to fireworks

Port Phillip Ferries is running a special Docklands winter fireworks experience for six weeks on Fridays during August. Departing from Wyndham Harbour at 4.30pm on Fridays, Port Phillip Ferries will arrive in Docklands just in time for an amazing view of the fireworks at 6.30pm.

Lacrosse players wanted

Wyndham Warriors lacrosse team is looking for players for teams ranging from boys and girls to men’s and women’s. The club trains Mondays and Wednesdays from 6pm at Tarneit’s Wootten Road Reserve.

Free expo for older drivers

A senior drivers expo will be held from 9.45am on August 20 at Hobsons Bay council civic offices, 115 Civic Parade, Altona. RoadSafe Westgate Community Road Safety Council will provide information about road laws, health and effects of medicines. Participants can have a free and confidential driving assessment in their own car, and an assessment of their car’s safety and roadworthiness. A free lunch will be provided. Bookings essential.

Race unplugged

Wyndham Art Gallery presents RACE; an extended program of events that unpack, unmask and explore issues around race and what it means. Through exhibitions, film, public discussions and performance, this program aims to break down the barriers and stigma that can surround this topic, and lead the way towards a more understanding, unified, represented and dignified society. Learn to relax

Yoga moves west

This vinyasa flow class caters for all levels of experience over an hour of yoga. Mats are provided. Casual classes cost $10 and are held at the Iramoo Community Centre, 84 Honour Avenue, Wyndham Vale.

Set in sculpture

In Tarneit, sculptor Clive Gono will present new works tomorrow, August 11, 6pm until 8pm, that draw on traditional cultural symbols that are finding new places in the gardens and backyards of suburban Melbourne. The exhibition will be held at the Tarneit Community Learning Centre,150 Sunset Views Boulevard, Tarneit.
