Rustic and generous: 352 Derrimut Road, Hoppers Crossing, 3029

This sprawling ranch style house is designed for lovers of the outdoors but it does not forgo the comforts of urban life. It sits on about 4000 square metres and is just a short stroll to St James the Apostle Primary School and Baden Powell College, while medical centres, as well as the shops of Pacific Werribee Plaza are close by.

Snug carpeting and, in some areas, cathedral ceilings lined with timber panels create a very cosy interior, while white walls give a crisp freshness at any time. In the vast open-plan living zone – incorporating lounge, kitchen and meals areas – a wood-fireplace set into a sturdy brick pillar, adds an extra layer of comfort to the space, while windows on either side draw in plenty of light and give views to the front and back of the property. Built-in cabinets and shelves make it easy to store and display treasured items.

The kitchen evokes an idyllic, country feel, and exposed brick finishes complement the beautiful timber-panelled cabinets and quality appliances. A massive picture window also makes it easy to keep an eye on children playing in the yard. Just outside the living zone an outdoor entertaining space provides plenty of room for social get-togethers and is paved and enclosed for comfort.

The large main bedroom has built-in robes and a neat and spacious, timber-lined en suite, while nearby there is a sitting area or parents’ retreat. Two other bedrooms are also generous and share a central bathroom. With a large window overhanging the bathtub and framing the natural environment, this space is fresh and bright and has a mixture of timber finishes and on-trend, subway tiling.

Back outside, the yard has plenty of space for gardening as well as a range of future enhancements such as an in-ground pool, a children’s playing ground, vegetable beds, a studio or even extensions to the house. There are also two double garages and more than enough room for more vehicles to park in the driveway and on the property.
