Modern appeal: 11 Rainbow Way, Tarneit, 3029

Smart and contemporary and subtly breaking the mould in terms of indoor colour palette, this handsome place perches on an impressive easement-free 660-square-metre block – with a 19.5-metre frontage allowing wide side access.

Although the overall palette is today’s understated greys, where the change-up comes in is in the sleek skylit kitchen. Hints of soft green can be seen in the mottled-greys waterfall stone benches, a shade that also comes into play on cabinetry doors. Splashback tiles are white, as are the cupboard pantry’s french doors, while dual wall ovens and integrated microwave, 900mm gas cooktop and dishwasher deliver the practical stuff in spades.

A good-sized living hub surrounds the kitchen and with its large windows is well lit. Another living area is a lounge room facing the street. It has soft-grey carpet and a wall of built-in bookshelves, each lending a comfortable and relaxed ambience. A roller blind is on the window in here, all others with vertical blinds.

The four fitted bedrooms include the spacious main with walk-in robe, and an en suite with blue floor tiles, a shade echoed in the vanity unit in the main bathroom. The toilet is separate.

Gas ducted heating, evaporative cooling and window shutters are part of the deal.

It’s all good outdoors, with a timber deck running from an integrated alfresco area to beneath a gabled pergola that stretches to the fence line.

On one side, a lovely lawned walkway edged with plantings leads to the front garden gate. On the other, an expanse of lawn accommodates a trio of brick planter boxes and there’s a garden shed edged with paving. The double garage has internal access via the entry hall.

Important destinations each take four-minute car trips – the station, Tarneit Central and Wyndham Village shopping centres; and no less than five schools, Tarneit P-9 College among them.
