Go to whoa wow: 8 Whitmore Place, Wyndham Vale, 3024

It’s hard not to gush about this place: stunning location, beautiful house and sublime outdoor spaces – it’s a frontrunner in all aspects.

Looking for all the world like an original California bungalow, the house shows exemplary craftsmanship and a clever design eye in the ways the original footprint has been tweaked. Now in its 18th year, the whole place looks fresher, younger and way more stylish than it did at its creation.

The location is in a few strides of Lollipop Creek and at the end of arguably the prettiest cul-de-sac around: Wyndham Green estate’s dress-circle address.

Beyond a horseshoe driveway and lovely gardens, entry to the house is under a porch laid with tessellated tiles.

The entry hall has blond Tasmanian oak floorboards which, on their way into the living domain, head past an open grey-carpeted lounge room. An elegant room, it has a deep sill and leadlight panes on window, ornate cornices, ceiling rosette and a gas log fire with traditional surround.

An open study next door has an amazing amount of richly stained timber joinery including two workstations.

The giant hub, with cute wood heater, incorporates a chic Hamptons-influenced kitchen with a big island bench topped with marble-look stone; this has a butler’s sink with provincial tapware and sits under a trio of snazzy pendants. Joinery is soft-close, the 900mm cooker is a designer Smeg and the dishwasher is Miele.

Off the kitchen, a step-down plushly carpeted theatre room with moody soft-chocolate wall paint has dimmable wall sconces and all movie equipment. It neighbours a gym/hobby space that accesses the drive-through double garage.

Of the three bedrooms, two with 2pac joinery and built-in robe, the main has a fab dressing room and a dual-basin en suite.

Now for the wow outdoors, accessed via a pair of french doors. A massive pergola houses a barbecue kitchen, a wood heater, TV and sound system and strip heaters.

Behind a glass fence and rimmed by extraordinary tropical gardens there’s a solar-heated salt pool as centrepiece of a truly luxe resort space – there’s even a grotto water feature.
