Contemporary class: 7 Japonica Way, Point Cook, 3030

Built by Porter Davis, one of Victoria’s top outfits, this sleek family house perches on a landscaped block of about 665 square metres of prime real estate. It’s five minutes or less from Point Cook Town Centre and Point Cook P-9 College.

The house is decked out in a contemporary charcoal, grey and white palette, with smart roman blinds on windows, while natural light streams in and bounces off all the glossiness.

Dark-grey tiles begin in the entry hall and flow into an open-plan lounge room, study, family-meals space and rumpus area.

The kitchen has a stack of lustrous white cupboards and pot drawers, pearl-grey Caesarstone benches including an island able to seat four, white glass splashback, extra-big walk-in pantry, dishwasher and Smeg 900mm cooker. It’s a streamlined space for home chefs, as well as an excellent entertainment hub and integrates so well with all living and outdoor areas.

Three of the fitted bedrooms are down the back, close to rumpus room, charcoal-and-white main bathroom, separate toilet and the laundry. The main bedroom, first cab off the rank off the entry hall, has two walk-in wardrobes plus a large dual-basin en suite matching the main in decor.

Both rumpus and family-meals zones have bifolds opening to the spacious alfresco area anchored by grey tiles and with a sink (hot and cold water) and mains gas connection for a barbecue. An attached pergola extends the space further into a side yard lined with synthetic turf.

The fairly narrow backyard is laid almost entirely with pebbles, and there are water tanks and a boxed vegie garden out here as well. Tucked to one side is an 8 x 2.5-metre roller-doored workshop, while side gates open to a high-span gabled tandem carport suitable for caravan.

Other noteworthy features include ducted heating and cooling, alarm system, media centre, security shutters, 14 solar panels (3.5 KVA), solar hot water and a remote-controlled double garage.
