My Wyndham: Stephanie Nidenko

How long have you lived in Wyndham?

I have lived here for about nine years, in Wyndham Vale.

What do you like about living in Wyndham?

I like the community connectedness. I am part of a number of groups. You can go to the shops and you see people you know. I come to the library and they know my kids. It’s a really friendly place to be.

Is there anything about living in Wyndham you’d like to change?

I’d like to see extra respite or multiple-birth groups … there’s either not a lot of help or long waiting lists. I have a lot of friends who are at the end of their tether and don’t know where to get help.

How long have you been involved in Grasshoppers Playgroup? How does it help parents?

For about three years. It’s a growing group. We now have five sessions. Wednesdays are the grandparents group, which is a new thing that started late last year. A lot of grandparents are looking after their grandkids now. We started a dad’s group on a Saturday, which is a good chance for dads to connect and it’s time out for mum. The three other sessions are for anybody to attend.

You are also part of Wyndham Twins Plus? How has that helped you?

My twins are nearly three years old now and I joined when I was pregnant. It was awesome because you could talk to other mums and see how you pick up two babies at once. It was really lovely to connect with other mums who had multiple births. You get lots of good ideas and feedback from other mums.
