My Wyndham: Sheridan Adams

Sheridan Adams got a taste for musical theatre in year 7 at MacKillop College. Now 17, the Hoppers Crossing resident is eyeing a career in the limelight writes Charlene Macaulay.

How many musicals have you done through MacKillop?

I did the Wizard of Oz in year 7, year 8 was Little Shop of Horrors, year 9 was Seussical, in year 10 we did Pirates of Penzance, last year we did Thoroughly Modern Millie and this year Beauty and the Beast.

How does it feel to be doing your last production with MacKillop?

This school is the only reason I know musical theatre even existed. I wanted to be a pop star when I was five or six and then I came here and it totally changed. I have a lot to thank MacKillop for. It’s really sad, but kind of exciting.

You won the Victorian Theatre Guild Award for Junior Female Performer in a leading role for  Thoroughly Modern Millie. What was that like?

There were entrants from all over Victoria so I thought there was no way I would win. I didn’t even let my parents come to the awards. I went with a friend.

Do you perform outside of school?

I just finished the Little Mermaid with the Williamstown Theatre Company, I’ve been involved with Altona City Theatre and I’m doing a show with the Wyndham Theatre Company called One Night Only.

What do you want to do once you graduate?

Study at the Victorian College of the Arts. They don’t accept people straight out of high school, they like you to get some life experience first.

Do you ever get stage fright?

I did when I was younger, but not any more. Now I get excited, not scared.
