Truganina’s Jenna Seymour is gearing up to represent Victoria on a national stage after being named a finalist in the Miss World Australia pageant.
Seymour, 24, won through to the national finals after competing in the Victorian heats on July 26.
The former teachers’ aide will compete against other finalists from around the nation in Perth from August 27-30 in a bid to be named Miss World Australia and win the chance to compete in the Miss World finals later in the year.
Seymour says getting to the national finals was exciting and she was looking forward to continuing her fundraising for children’s charity Variety, which empowers and adds fun to the lives of children who are sick, disadvantaged or with special needs.
“Taking part was itself really exciting, but Miss World really is beauty with a purpose and just knowing all the money you have raised is going to a worthy charity is rewarding,” she says.
To help prepare for her trip to Perth, Seymour has been watching videos of last year’s finals.
She expects there to be mini-challenges, seminars, evening gown competitions and question-and-answer sessions.
Not content with having raised about $5000 for Variety, Ms Seymour is organising a wine and dine day for later this month.
She also plans to meet with some of the children and families that benefit from the charity.
“I have had experience working with kids with learning difficulties so being able to see where our community’s money is going will be an honour.”
